You are the only you. It’s been said many times in many ways, but I’m going to say it again: there is no one else who is better at being you.
When you were born, someone held you in their arms and thought “look at this perfect little baby.” And you are perfect, you are perfectly you. At many points in life our confidence gets tested, sometimes abandoned altogether because of bullies, the media, or even just unfortunate incidents in which no one meant to tear us down, but they did.
Staying focused on your dreams is hard when you aren’t sure if you deserve them, aren’t sure if you can accomplish them. How many times a day do you feel ugly, stupid, or inadequate? How many times a day do you tell yourself the opposite? Studies say narcissism is rampant in this generation, but I think that’s bullshit, because all I end up seeing is more cases of depression, anxiety, and suicide. And I hate that.
Tell yourself positive affirmations in the mirror. Correct yourself when you think negative thoughts about yourself. Don’t question if you can do something, question how you’ll do it. Tell yourself that you’re going to be just fine.
You are weird. No one else is weird like you. No one else has your eyebrows, or your nose. No one else can tell stories like you or sing like you. No one else does a squat like you. No one else laughs like you. No one else thinks just like you. No one else has your exact combination of interests and skills. No one else is brave like you. No one else has your exact dreams.
There is something unique about you. In fact, there are probably many things that are unique about you, and unless one of those things is that you’ve intentionally harmed someone else, none of those things are to be ashamed of. Embrace them. Love them. Own them. Let them become you because then you’ll become who you’re meant to be, and figure out what you’re meant to do.
You aren’t invisible to the world, someone sees you. And you shouldn’t want to be invisible, because some people are worth letting them see you. I know it’s scary, believe me I do, but all you can do is let who you really are shine through – be uniquely you.
Love this! 😍
